    Description
Made in 1959-1960, this one is in Excellent to Excellent Plus condition, with all original components and a brick original Orange Perforated Box and instruction sheet. One of my personal favorites because of the play value it offers.
Lionel cataloged the 3428 from 1959-1960 and offered it on one cataloged set #1626W in 1959 and #1640 in 1960. It was also offered for separate sale in both 1959 and 1960.
This is a no reserve auction.
This one is in very clean condition. The colors are brisk, sharp and vibrant. The heat-stamped lettering is bold, crisp and complete and the wheels show very light track usage and may actually be unrun. It has AAR trucks with two operating couplers both of which work perfectly. The rest of the metal parts are factory fresh. A beautiful example of this operating car that is now 62 years old.
It includes an original blue mailman with an original gray mailbag and a Type III 6464 boxcar with a blue body mold. Its only flaw is a small paint chip on a roof corner. It doesn't detract from the car's appearance. Really a nice car with great play value.
Comes with a brick original box. These boxes seem to be becoming quite scarce, especially in this condition. It is complete with all crisp flaps, vibrant colors and bold lettering. The perforated panel is 80% completely attached including the ever elusive thumb slot cover. There is not a hint of tape anywhere. Check out one of the many pictures of it I have provided.
The instructions are virtually flawless with great colors and correctly numbered 3428-23 and dated 8-59. They are lightly yellowed from age but still crisp. I would grade it a C-8 to a C-9 out of a possible C-10.
I am a long time member of the TCA and LCCA and guarantee that my descriptions are 100% accurate or your money back. Shipping in the Continental U.S. is .95. Thanks for checking out my other auctions.
